Reiki // A Quick Case Study

A group of us are currently going through Reiki II and I'm listening to the Reiki for Life audio book this morning which inspired me to research Dr. Usui's natal chart.

We don't have the time available but the mystical part of the tradition of Jyotisha brings right timing for the right inquiry and based on my experience, I've learned to trust that. I used the timing that I pulled the chart which was just a bit ago at 8:46am and NOT to my surprise, the Ascendant shows as Hasta rising.

I've found that people with strong Hasta are Reiki practitioners, massage therapists, artists, master gardeners and in some way on a healing journey using their hands.

Some other interesting things... He has a stellium of planets in the 12th house of spirituality and death (how things end or more accurately the footsteps we are taking in this left toward the afterlife/next life). Sun is with Magha, the ancestors and the ascension in a very strong placement. Mercury (his planetary ruler) and Mars are also here in the 12th house. Sun represents soul purpose. Mercury is our communications and creativity. Mars is our courage and strength. All of these coming together in the 12th house absolutely supports his ability to take energy healing (which has been around for eons, he didn't create it) and find a way to create a system that is easy to communication and share. Both Mercury and Mars are with Uttara Phalguni which is a contract of partnerships. That is what he was doing...creating a system through partnership (Reiki 1, 2, 3) for collective healing of a spiritual quality.

Ketu represents past perfection, past life, enlightenment and things of that nature and is the hardest area of our life/chart to understand directly. His Ketu is with Ashwini (also ruled by Ketu) and in the 8th house of occult, hidden, ancestors. Sun (soul purpose) is with Magha, also ruled by Ketu and associated with the ancestors. And most of his planets are pinned between Ketu and Rahu which is called a "snake of time" yoga which forces these Ketu ideals of some occult-like healing to come through and be shared in the way he did.

Venus in the 10th with Ardra provides a healing catharsis for many through his work.

Saturn EXALTED with Rahu in Chitra would account for the symbols and how to do this just right, among many other things.

Jupiter with Jyeshtha would give him that Robinhood energy of taking the healing from the "system and powers that be" and making it for everyone. Also probably why parts of Reiki will always be a mystery so the western culture doesn't co-opt and ruin it.
