Jyeshtha | The Authority (The Elder)

Like Ashlesha, Jyeshtha is another tricky nakshatra to discuss. Mercury, which rules both, is known as a neutral and neutered planet, it’s interesting that both Ashlesha and Jyeshtha are so complicated. Maybe those who hold this archetype are fighting the neutral standpoint?

This is the 18th nakshatra and the last of the second spiral of development. When I speak tomorrow, we will be starting the last spiral inward.

As the last of the second spiral, you start seeing a new kind of energy emerging. Where at Ashlesha, a fierceness was developing that seems unlikely to come from an emotional Cancer person. Here there is a confidence and certainty that is trying to develop in the vague Scorpio.

Shhhh…The Scorpios don’t want me to share this vulnerable secret with you. They are often acting as if they are confident through their secretiveness, but often they are still cultivating this quality. And the same with the Cancer people... and their fierceness that their crab shell conveys…they aren’t as fierce as they could appear, they are still developing that fierceness.

Jyeshtha is symbolized by an amulet, earring, talisman or a ceremonial umbrella. These are items that appear to bestow authority. Others know they are important people based on the possession of these items. The symbols in some way bring validation.

Jyeshtha is known as the eldest one, the one who expresses authority, the elder wife or sister. And through this importance, Jyeshtha is trying to level up the playing field and give opportunity to those who don’t have autonomy. It reminds me of Robinhood type of energy.

They mean well.

But sometimes this looks like jealousy. Often they are reacting to something they disagreed with and they will recoil into the depths of their well.

This last nakshatra (of the second part of the Zodiac) is preparing us for the last spiral inward by working out our shadows and samskaras so that we can be more clear as we bring our wisdom into the Earth plane.

As we fully come into this energy, no longer are we projecting jealousy or superiority, we are taking that gift of friendship and eldership and ushering in a new type of being.

When Moon transits Ashlesha, like it is doing today, you might notice you are extra judgy, you might find yourself withdrawing into the depths of your inner well or cave. Or you may be mentoring your grandchildren!
